In terms of community development, our aims are focused largely on developing capacity and wellbeing, creating a sense of place, reducing social isolation, promoting volunteering and intergenerational contacts, and supporting the most vulnerable to obtain greater support. We are achieving this by:
- Continuing to help young people, ethnic minority and vulnerable adults to develop social skills and confidence to move into volunteering, training and job experience and on to permanent work.
- Building on the support available for individuals to maximise incomes, manage to a tight budget and reduce any debt.
- Make better use of the facilities of our sheltered housing schemes and community centres to promote volunteering and reduce the isolation of our community.
